The third round of the 2011 Monster Energy Drink SuperX Championships was held in smouldering conditions at Campbelltown (Sydney) on the weekend (5 Nov). A boisterous crowd turned out to see Australia's best compete on what would be a challenging circuit, and they did not leave disappointed as the riders pushed themselves to the limit and beyond causing some spectacular crashes with devastating results, keeping series medical team RaceSafe occupied.

Scriven's Racings Pro Lite Rider Matt Ryan from Kyabram had a night of ups and downs after qualifying eleventh in his heat and thirteenth overall. Matt crashed hard in the rhythm section of the opening lap of his heat, he completed two laps with severely bent bars to familiarise himself with the circuit, placing him in the LCQ. Matt had a superb start in the LCQ producing a lead in the first lap, demonstrating his skill of Supercross he quickly became a crowd favourite producing massive whips over the triple jump and finishing the race uncontested with a freestyle 'heal clicker'. The main event unfortunately had a devastating ending to the night. Matt was landed on in the rhythm section of the opening lap forcing him to run off the track away from the rest off the field, leaving his Honda battered, but it was a wrist injury that left him unable to compete.

"I had fun during the LCQ." said a cheerful Ryan. "I got ran into during the heat, I rode a few laps with bent bars. I was looking forward to the main event. I had a great start, I was up in the top group, and cased a jump and was landed on by another rider. The rear sprocket was bent badly and the chain came off. Kenny could have put in the spare rear wheel, but I was concerned with my wrist, which I will have a CT scan on Tuesday to confirm any damage."

"Matt had a disastrous round," said dealer principle Tim Scriven, "Matt still sits in equal twelfth after scoring no points in the round. We are awaiting test results to see if Matt is able to continue in the championship. With the first dry round of the series everyone was egger to put points on the board and prove how fast they really where, but unfortunately consideration for other riders went out the window. It is extremely difficult to compete against factory riders who do not have to front up for work on the Monday, the factory riders can practice all week. Ken Collins was kept busy this round, and without the support of Alpinestars, Dunlop, Scott, Pro Circuit, B & B Offroad, Flea Designs, kajx COMMUNICATIONS, Choice Suspension, Andearth, Ash's Spoked Wheelz, Ringmaster Images and TAG Metals this series would be harder to complete. We have had confirmation today that Matt has chipped a bone in his left hand and will be unable to finish the SuperX series. We had a great start, the team was starting to gel together, and Matt was happy on the bike. It is extremely disappointing, but we look forward to next year," concluded Tim Scriven, Scriven's Consolidated Industries, Kerang.

The second round of the 2011 Monster Energy Drink SuperX Championships held in Wollongong on the weekend (29th October) had mixed weather conditions. Qualifying and heat races where completed in sunshine, while selected final events where held in muddy conditions, forcing event organisers to cancel Junior and Under 19s races. Scriven's Racing SuperX Pro Lite rider Matt Ryan finished ninth in the main event after qualifying through his heat. Which places him equal ninth overall in the series with three rounds remaining.

"I can't wait for a dry round." said Matt, as the series opening rounds have being hindered by mother nature. "Hopefully Campbelltown this weekend will be dry and see how I go."

"Matt is a privateer. He still has to front up for work on Monday. His driving to all the rounds and that is a big effort." said Tim Scriven. "All our riders work during the week and race on weekends. In Ken Collins case, he races and is team mechanic for the big events so it is great to have him on board. Without the support of Alpinestars, Dunlop, Scott, Pro Circuit, B & B Offroad, Flea Designs, kajx COMMUNICATIONS, Choice Suspension, Andearth, Ash's Spoked Wheelz, Ringmaster Images and TAG Metals this series would be harder to complete. SCRIVEN'S RACING TEAM SURVIVES MELBOURNE MUD BATH

The first round of the 2011 Monster Energy SuperX Championships, was held in demanding conditions at Knight's Stadium in Melbourne on Saturday night 22nd October 2011. Track preparation was superb despite rain during the week before the event. However, on race day, the venue was transformed into a 'mud bath' after being hit by a thunderstorm resulting in heavy rain and hailstones, despite the conditions competitors took to the circuit.

After a two year break from SuperX, Scriven's Racing's Matt Ryan from Kyabram in Victoria competed in the second heat of the Pro Lites for qualifying, with the second fastest time for his heat, Matt qualified thirteenth overall in near perfect conditions despite the overnight rain.

"I am happy I qualified." said a relaxed Ryan, "I have a new team around me, and this is only the second race I have had on the Honda. I am having fun, and have a great team around me at the moment."

An afternoon thunderstorm engulfed the circuit, with bystanders seeking refuge under umbrellas; the rain fell fast with 3.8mm recorded for the day. Racing in the second heat, Matt had a great start, while working his way from fourth to a podium position, Matt dropped is bike in a slippery corner after the stutters. He was able to remount his bike quickly and worked his way back for a seventh finish allowing him to advance straight into the main event.

"I am so glad I don't have to wash my bike that is Ken's job." replied a cheerful Matt Ryan.

The main event had twenty riders faced with back-to-back races; the race was reduced in laps due to the conditions. The circuit was wet; once the gates dropped, you could not tell who was who. Matt had a few moments in the first part of the final race where the circuit took control dropping his bike, but he was able to finish with points. In the final moto, Matt rode well to finish in seventh position, finishing thirteenth overall in the Pro Lites for the first round of the five round series.

"Five rounds of SuperX in five weeks, starting in Melbourne and working its way to Brisbane." said Tim Scriven. "We are extremely proud of Matt's performance in the conditions at Melbourne. He has not raced SuperX in two years; it is his second race meeting on the Honda, and a new team, we are still getting use to working together, and I hope that the rain does not follow the series. This weekend is the Wollongong round, followed by Campbelltown, Maitland and the final round in Ipswich. Ken Collins will be following Matt around as his mechanic, a combination that will prepare us for 2012. Round 4 of the Victorian Junior MX C'ships has unfortunately been postponed due to extreme weather conditions.

MOTORCYCLING Victoria’s Motocross Management Committee would like to advise all entrants who are due to compete in the fourth and final round of the 2011 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships to be held at Albury-Wodonga Motorcycle Club this weekend, July 30-31, has unfortunately been postponed due to extreme weather conditions.

At this point MVMX are hopeful that Round 4 will be run at the same venue on the championship’s emergency round of August 20-21, a little over three weeks from today.

Confirmation of the venue and date will be released as soon as MVMX is able; weather conditions may not enable the club to prepare the venue to an acceptable standard and may have to be relocated to a different venue.

MVMX would like to thank Albury-Wodonga Motorcycle Club for making the decision as early as possible so as to lessen the inconvenience on all competitors this weekend.

Keep checking Motorcycling Victoria’s website for further announcements on the rescheduling of Round 4.

Round 4 of the 2011 Victorian Junior MX C'ships relocated to Goulburn Valley Junior Motorcycle Club

MVMX would like to advise that Rd 4 of the 2011 VJMXC has been relocated to Goulburn Valley Jnr. MC this w/end.

MOTORCYCLING Victoria’s Motocross Management Committee would like to advise all entrants who were due to compete in the fourth and final round of the 2011 Victorian Junior Motocross Championship at Albury-Wodonga Motorcycle Club that the event has now been relocated.

Round 4 will now be held at Goulburn Valley Junior Motorcycle Club this weekend, July 30-31.

Extreme weather conditions at Albury during the week forced the club to unfortunately postpone the event this morning.

However, MVMX has made the decision to relocate the last junior round of the championship to the Goulburn Valley Junior Motorcycle Club, which will mean that riders will still be able to compete this weekend on July 30 -31, just outside of Mooroopna.

All Entries will be transferred to this venue.

Off-site camping will be available on Friday night prior to the weekend, whilst on-site camping will be available for those who wish to stay overnight on Saturday. Showers will not be available. There will be no camping fees incurred.

MVMX would again like to thank Albury-Wodonga Motorcycle Club for making the decision as early as possible so as to lessen the inconvenience on all competitors this weekend, and thank Goulburn Valley Junior Motorcycle Club for being able to host a final championship round at such short notice.
